Dancing comes from the soul. You learn that shyt on your own. Nobody can teach you to have rythm. You think the legends went into dance classes lookin at their ass in the mirror talmbout "mmm I dont know if I'm movin my hips the right way!"

The crazy thing is me and my homie got high and went to this latin club one time...

shyt was like the garden of eden. Most clubs usually have a 9-1 duck to bad bytch ratio...this place was 5-1 bad bytch to duck ratio.

Problem was all these chicks was on the dance floor gettin their salsa on. I was observing tryna figure that shyt out like but I couldn't get it. I wanted to try though. We bagged nothing. But since that day we always joked about wanting to learn that shyt.

Then I seen a show that showed the inside of a dance studio...Not for me.

Michael Jackson LEARNED how to dance by WATCHING Fred Astaire, James Brown, etc. Then he took that and put his own spin on it, but the core is the same.

Usher, Timberlake, CB, Omarion, etc all learned by WATCHING and studing MJ and others of his time.

Nobody is born with an innate knowledge to dance. You might have the talent/flexiblity, but you still have to LEARN

The question is: Did he copy and then practice on his own, or did he go to a dance studio with a bunch of other dudes and females?

exactly. I'm not saying theres anything wrong with watching a pro and then immitating them on your own then putting your own flavour into it, but its straight mango status to go to a dance studio lookin like

i know i'm gonna get laughed at here for saying this (because being ignorant in these parts is the norm) but i use to do swing dance lessons before the beginning of this year and a little into this year. it was one of my birthday resolutions. i only stopped because i got so busy in february and i couldn't make the classes any more. plus, my general interest faded because it was a group class and a lot of the people you'd partner up with would start making up their own moves and not following the instructor correctly. it became frustrating to have to go back to square one each time simply because a girl you were partnered with couldn't do a simple move.

one thing you do learn in classes like those is everyone has a dancing personality. like you learn if a person is naturally aggressive or hesitant simply by how they engage you. you also learn a lot about your own confidence levels. i would adjust mine to be higher over time but it would get low if i could sense the other person really didn't know what they were doing, so i'd try to compensate. but some guys in those classes were really over the top when it came to dancing. they'd do all the wrong moves but get carried away and try to turn it into some dancing with the stars routine. for me, it was always important to get the steps correct each time so later down the line i wouldn't have to think about it. but now that i think about it, most people were taking the classes for recreational purposes. i was one of the few that really wanted to learn and possibly progress...
