Same here, I was pretty young when he was in office so I fell in line with the narrative, and I won't absolve him of letting his cronies run wild, but it's clear he was a pawn while his dad, Cheney, and deplorable cabinet ran things.

he might have known those deplorables because of his dad, but his dad wasn't on that and would advise him against it. hw's close friend and former national security advisor brent scowcroft was a critic of the iraq invasion before and after and many saw that as hw's way of letting it be known he didn't support it without undermining his son publicly.

This is pure tin foil, and I deserve to be mocked for it, but sometimes I feel Bush Jr. was just there for the ride.

That's not an excuse on his part, or to paint him as a moral person, but I sometimes feel he was the weakest President in history. I think his dad and his dad's friends ran the entire operation and he was the stooge.

Again, this is not something I think because of concrete proof, its just something about the whole ordeal and his behavior (especially post presidency) that I can't put a finger on.

This nikka was the Draco Malfoy out the crew essentially being a placeholder for the already well established evil that he was spawned from. This is def an outlet for his guilt IMO.
