Nah Im jus saying after studying all of Kdot's work he's good but his lyricism aint touching the likes of a Jay or Nas..
Kdot's main strength is his storytelling not so much of advanced lyricism which Jay is.

Like I havent heard one Kdot verse that even comes close to the advanced lyrics of tracks like D'evils, Regrets, or even light sht like Cashmere Thoughts

Reason I made this thread is cuz im seeing a couple of dudes saying outlandish statements such as "Kdot is lyrically better than Jay"

Which is hilarious :heh:

Kendrick vs current Jay. Kendrick wins

Good Kid Maad City vs Life Is Good. GKMC

"black shoes at the white shows, white shows at the black shoes, I'll show you how to do this huuuuuuh" :skip:

Overall Jay and Nas still have the better catalogue, and Nas especially has shown way better skills throughout his career.

Yet here we are 8 years in and Lupe can rap rings around your favourite rapper.

:mjpls:

Unless your favourite rapper is Nas :ahh:

It will be a good day for hip hop if my man gets better than Nas. But that day is not here yet.

This. IMO, as far as recent emcees go, he's by far at the head of the class, cream of the crop. It surprises me at times how lyrical he is being a West Coast artist. He's the best artist to come out of any region within the past decade. However he's still too recent of an artist to compare to Nas, Jay, hell ANYBODY that's dropped more than a major label debut and a couple independent mixtapes/albums.

A few emcees have disappointed me in the past couple years as I expected great projects from them. I'm talkin Saigon, Jay Electronica, and even Tyler the Creator. His lead off single was a monster and the video was a breath of fresh air, but his album didn't live up to the hype. Have to say K.Dot did not disappoint. His discography is a problem too. Section 80, Overly Dedicated, The Kendrick Lamar EP, and obviously GKMC. You're talkin an independent album, two mixtapes with one supposedly an EP, and a major label debut. And that's only the beginning!!! We got a legend in the making.

The proof is in the pudding

And too bad for Lupe...there aint that much pudding :mjpls:

:whoa: I'm working so we wont get deep into this Slash my breh.

But I agree with your initial point, whoever thinks K.Dot is better than Nas or Camel needs their head checked.

I think Kendrick's got a more diverse flow than being a better lyricist and that's his real strength.
