but it was an oc of a playoff team...caldwell was thought by many to be a fraud.

like homie above me said kaep was balling when alex got hurt and made some gorgeous and accurate throws alex never would make and under him the team won convincingly (the bears game at least).
one could argue that most of the team wanted kaep as the guy after, and its easier to piss off one guy then 40+

kaep did ball out but at the point when harbs made his decision to switch QBs it was only after one game. we've seen a lot of backup QBs have solid starts then flame out once teams got film on them. i was all for kaep taking over but i gotta say it's pretty ballsy to hand the starting QB job on a contending team to a 2nd year QB with very little experience.

This forget the statistics, Alex Smith was playing well and hurt his head, he was on track to have the best season he's had since Norv Turner, maybe better. Keeping Kaep considering that fans had the same expectations Super Bowl or bust was very ballsy. Kaep looked very raw in the preseason, his success was not guaranteed.

Cam Cameron was gawd awful, it just turned out that Jim Caldwell was the medicine the Raven's offense needed.

I agree that Cameron should have been gone sooner but like people say if Kaep didn't pan out they could have went back to Smith but if we somehow missed the playoffs, I think we're looking for a new head coach.

he wasnt playing better than last year, despite the gaudy stats.

the stats were inflated cuz of bills/az/jets games and he couldnt muster comebacks like last year when we needed him to (vikes, giants games)

alex regressed, but the good stats masked that. it was clear that after we got our RG, anthony davis got better at RT, and we got better WRs than brett swain in moss and mario, he was the weakest link on the offense

definitely the Bmore move. it's not like Kaep was garbage. Harb was gonna make that switch anyway whether it was this year or next. He could always go back to Smith if CK7 stunk it up, but what would Bmo do if Caldwell came thru and sucked and made horrible playcalls that cost them games? they don't make the playoffs.

This.

There's no reset button on changing OC's.

thats the thing too, jim had so huge of a credit after the first year, he couldve shat on the owners head and dude would give him a raise.

john was talked about being on the hot seat after losing all those games towards the end

job security was incomparable

before this year, johnny harbs led y'all to the playoffs every season including 2 title games. no way he was getting fired even if y'all didn't make it this year

there were lots of rumors breh...

forgot about the rumors. honest mistake :manny:

jim did have more job security but the majority of the fanbase wasn't down with the QB switch at first. he would've been second guessed forever if kaep didn't pan out.
