it's about individuals becoming "slaves" to a corporate/capitalist/consumer culture. the price of the items being bought does not matter. every person raised in the united states of america is raised specifically to get a job, enter the work force, and spend the money they earn on, some of it on vanity shyt they don't need. he's touched on this before in countless songs, one of them specifically "all falls down"

he also makes a point about the prision industrial complex which has plenty of truth to it as well..

.

What point does he make about the prison industrial complex? That it exists?

:laff:

Your first paragraph is cliche gibberish (similar to New Slave)...FWIW "All Falls Down" is a good song that actually makes sense...This song is some pseudo revolutionary nonsense..

you don't get to call people out for ad hominem attacks when your argument is based around how much of a hypocrite he is. you're attacking his character rather then his point as well

What point?

And this thread is titled "Kanye is making cacs uncomfortable".. Discussing this in a nuanced way without bringing up his character is futile....HOW can he make them "mad" and "uncomfortable" when they can plainly see how hollow his words are? If HE doesn't believe what he's saying why would they care?

I'm speaking about reasonably intellegent white people here...Not ones that react to buzz words...

The type of cac that will get angry about this song, is another side of the coin of the 'Carl From Sling Blade mentally equipped' n1gga that will get excited about it...It's dumbed down art for dumb people to get angry or excited about..

It means nothing...

The same message that every notable website from Salon to NPR has been discussing since the tracks debuted.

If you're "choosing" to ignore that, then fine. You can discuss the TMZ parts of Kanye's life with others or in KTL.

But if you're talking about the music, as I thought the booth was meant for, then let's focus on the message.

Based on these two songs, Ye appears to continue to try and confront the racist, exploitive media and cultural systems that Kanye perpetuates and benefits from. He's done that since Never Let Me Down/Spaceship, etc.

The message is that we are being exploited and people need to become aware of how we are being exploited to further prevent being exploited.

The other message is that there is still a separate but equal class division in this post Jim Crow era and it extends fro the bottom (poor blacks getting served harsh punishments, looters vs food searchers) to the top (Lebron's jersey being burned, Beyonce losing to Swift,).

If you seriously don't understand this message, then maybe it's not directed at you. That's the great thing about music. People interpret it differently. I'm telling you how I received it, an a good majority of people have understood it on a similar wavelength.

It's like the Washington Post. If you don't get it, you don't get it. :yeshrug:

This is some grade A limosuine liberal dumb c00n sh1t right here....

The false equivalency of the discrepancy of crack sentencing to Beyonce losing an MTV Award is enough to make me fall out of my chair..

Matter of fact..

Thats what I'm gonna do now

Naw I get it... LeBron James is the Medgar Evers of our day and we should listen to more Kanye music to learn how to prevent from being exploited by capitalism....

Nope. That's not it.

However, clearly something is wrong when the people of Akron feel they can burn a man's jersey because he went to a new team.
They don't own this man. He has a contract that can be bought out like anyone else.

So why did they react this way?

That's the conversation kanye wants people to have. That's the deeper level that you just don't wanna go to. You keep going back to these surface level thoughts and I just can't entertain you anymore.
