This is when Yeezus was BLACKEXCELLENCE:lawd: Not only first wave of music, but his videos were amazing:ohhh: But, my slow-ass didn't realize his career was built on ghostwriters:huhldup: Anyway, Rhymefest was a great asset:myman:, but I guess the New Blacks made Ye disconnect them numbers:mjpls:

He never mentioned God again which leads me to wonder if it was his gimmick like skateboarding was for lupe.

And now his blasphemous shyt like new god flow, I am a god, god level, yeezus :scusthov:

Never liked this song because I've always seen it as blatant exploitation. Kanye isn't religious anymore than he is pro-black. The song was a hustle.

If you were black you would know that the asiatic black man is God. Or if you know the bible you would know that God is in all of us.
But mostly it's a concept song of feeling yourself, self-motivation etc, and really if you listen to the song he says "I am a god, even though I'm a man of God, my whole life in the hands of God, so you better stop playing with God"

Sometimes you need to think when you listen to music, read between the lines, understand the history and the slang.

I can give you loads of examples from the past years, like the following

Sunday morning, praise the lord
You're the girl that Jesus had been saving me for
So let's savor this moment and take it to the floor
black excellence, truly yours

Was a great song and took a lot of balls to release this, but to be honest his "I made Jesus walks I'm never going to hell." line kind of ruined the song for me.
Wordplay? He devoted himself to Jesus, a devotion that he illustrates in for example the song "Jesus Walks", so he's never going to hell.

Rap might be one of the few genres where the artist has to spell out every single word for the sentence to have a meaning, even though it might be the genre with most metaphors, punchlines, similes etc

Great song. That first line is amazing IMO.

You know what the Midwest is?
Young & Restless
Where restless (nikkas) might snatch your necklace
And next these (nikkas) might jack your Lexus

:whew:

He went from putting Jesus on a pedestal to putting himself on the same pedestal.:wow:

Rhymefest brought the sample to Kanye's atttention and co-wrote the first verse.
Actually no, that is Tony Williams.

Tony is is Kanye's older cousin and one day, he was driving Kanye from the airport and was ad-libbing to an early version of Spaceship and Kanye was :ohhh:.
Since then he has been on almost all Kanye albums.

He is also the guy from "Everyday a star is born" from Jay-z ft J Cole - A Star is born.
