He also said he was releasing albums like 6 different times that ain't drop
Sure you can... When the fukk was it decided you can't praise people for doing what's right, if it's past a certain point?can't give him props for shyt he shoulda been done. He's doing this AFTER he called out the label. AFTER people called him out for this hypocrisy. AFTER he's already reaped the benefits of owning the masters of records that have already peaked as far as financial viability. He gonna give that money back? Until then I aint gonna give props for that. But it is a good first step...a nice good faith gesture if he really wants to get the ball rolling for musicians. And I'm sure his artists appreciate it. Its better than most get. What next tho Ye?
I'm not putting a time limit on praise...read between the lines. You and I have different ideas of what's right. If someone returns something they stole from someone...after they get called out for it...and only because they are trying to retain something that was stolen from them...they arent doing the right thing. The right thing would be to not allow a record company to take a portion of masters of an upcoming artist forever. The right thing would have been to figure out a way for them to keep their masters to begin with. Hell maybe get em back a couple of years later. Or when their contract ended or was dissolved. Not giving the half you made a fortune off up when people are calling you out...not when you are trying to get artists behind your cause. When i said "can't give him props"...I mean I, myself can't give him props for that. YOU can do whatever the fukk you want.Sure you can... I'd rather it come late than never, and the artists feel the same

semantics...but fair enough.Their masters was stolen? I thought they entered into a bad business contract![]()
Lets name rappers/artists who we know own their Masters
Jay-Z
Nas (from King’s Disease onward)
J.Cole
Childish Gambino
Rihanna
Frank Ocean
21 Savage
Also RIP to Michael Jackson and Prince. Both fought for and owned their Masters in the end
He was doing the same standard contracts he knew about. He's not on his OG deal no more. So he reupped for another deal and gave up his own masters. He got his company and was told to do the same. He's been fine with it up until a month ago. But also, his artists have been fine with it too. They haven't spoke on him and said he shorted them or got them in slave deals. They also figured that part was industry standard.I'm not putting a time limit on praise...read between the lines. You and I have different ideas of what's right. Like I previously said I'm sure his artists appreciate it. It's a nice gesture that he didn't have to do. I can support the idea of what he's putting out there. But I aint buying into this dude being the Harriet Tubman of the music industry. The same guy who said slavery is a choice is going to be the northstar for the modern day slaves? I think not. I'm supposed to worship this attention whore cause he goes on this loud public warpath demanding apologies and looking to peep out nikkas contracts so that he can "help them". Yet its not until he's reminded that he's one of those same people that have built generational wealth with those "standard contracts" that he decides he's made a mistake. Like it just slipped his mind "oh yeah sorry for years I've been doing the same thing I was just complaining about. But now that you mention it, I'm seeing the errors of my ways. Here you can have the ones I have back...now celebrate my generosity and rage against the machine with me" FOH.He was doing the same standard contracts he knew about. He's not on his OG deal no more. So he reupped for another deal and gave up his own masters. He got his company and was told to do the same. He's been fine with it up until a month ago. Now he's saying he sees his mistakes. People point out "OK you right, but you own other people's shyt too." "Ok you right... Take them back... Now lets get back to the convo."
I see nothing wrong with that. It wasn't like he was preaching this for 10 years and just today he gave them back. Or Puff came out and said this after all his allegations. Ye just got on this mission and already gave up, what's probably millions in ownership
