Remember Juicy came out during the Prime of gangsta Rap's Day... It was genius for Puffy to pair the melodic sound of the Juicy beat with the rugged street mix tape sound of B.I.G. The fact that the beat wasn't an extravagant beat made you focus on Biggies rhymes and delivery and was the perfect introduction for the new M.C. Instant and timeliness classic.
This :salute:

:snoop: At people in here jumping all over a headline to give there opinion about how they feel towards Juicy smh. He probably like the b-side better. The b-side to Juicy was Unbelievable and the b-side to Big Poppa was Warning. Which are better beats, but wouldn't have blew B.I.G up.

Aight man...

I don't really agree with Kanye's view on that, but what a lotta nikkas aren't takin into consideration is that '94 is a different kinda thing. It's easy to sit here now and "WTF he talkin bout, it's a CLASSIC!" but around that time, if you were like a hardcore hip-hop head or an underground listener, a joint like "Juicy" wasn't the type of shyt that was heavy on the radar. It's possible to enjoy both styles of rap, but I've seen Kanye mention some of his favorite music from that era... it was stuff like ATCQ, Souls of Mischief, GangStarr, Pete Rock, Wu, etc... so you imagine that being the sound you're more partial to, and then a glossy R&B track comes on... it might not necessarily be your thing. shyt, I recall having to put my brother on to RTD because we were listening to shyt like Black Moon, Wu, Jeru etc. which is worlds apart from a nikka rappin' over "Juicy Fruit" which even BIG was opposed to. I thought "Juicy" was dope cause I liked the original song, but it's not THAT strange to think a dude whose musical tastes leaned further the other way wouldn't like it.
