My nikka better yet. Google Donnie simpson's years as the host of video soul, then google the performers that attended and performed those shows at the time. When cacs ain't care everyone supported. shyt Carribean acts even had their own awards show I do believe. So never come out ya face against my Goddess Rachel again.

The world changed after my nikka MJ walked on air during those Motown awards. After that the cac infiltration began and these awards have eventually become a joke. And we don't get the recognition on their bullshyt Grammys...so dumb nikkas like yourself are forced to believe a migos or whoever the fukk else is nearly as important or relevant as the legends that performed back in the day.

im not saying that the soul train awards is shunned. and neither is the BET awards. im just saying theres tons of instances where people won at the soul train awards and werent there to accept the chit - in the '90s at least. so people no-showing the bet awards is nothing new. every major artist that no-showed BET, have already been there multiple times.

oh and dont act like the soul train awards didnt die a slow gruesome death when BET came thru with their white-owned show.........and now soul train is a white-owned show aired by BET.

There's no such thing as no promo unless you do a Beyonce, in all of music history 'no promo' has referred to relatively little promotion. One might not swear on it in court, why you are acting like a prosecutor is a bit unclear. Doing 1 SNL is not really a lot of promotion, the reason to why you do several shows and such is to capture the ones who could buy your album. A lot of people do SNL it's not like performing at the Grammys, American Idol etc, Janelle Monae, indie bands like Vampire Weekend and loads of people do snl. Relatively speaking the ballerinas for his last album cost more and consumed more time than all of Yeezus promo.


The probability of capturing fans is very relevant, marketing zero o zero.

And advances music listener might not exist but a broad based knowledgeable listener exists.
However I don't like the term knowledgeable when referring to music. And I'm not saying that people like you are 'not advanced' I'm talking about the people who listen to radio and keep the top 50 looking like it does. We all know people who strictly listen to music that's poppin or easy, simple music. They don't really care or know too much about why a song sounds like it does, why it's structured in a certain way, or specifically in hiphop; nothing about flows, rhyming techniques and on. It's not that they are stupid, they just don't find it interesting. And those people were to a larger extent the one who complained with silly line like 'I want the old college dropout bushu'.


And my opinions not based on anything but my experience from listening to the album.
The professionals support my opinion,recall that you were talking about "people don't like it" or something similar. I said if we can use any indication of what people we know are knowledgeable; the reviewers then people loved it. And since it sold a lot of records (perhaps not Eminem, Drake, Beyonce #) we can rest sure that a very large group of people loved it.

How are you going to say that there's "no prom" and then follow up by saying, "unless you pull a Beyonce"? Beyonce is an example of no promo. Before she released the album on iTunes, there was only a Twitter/Facebook post the moment it was available. She didn't release an album title, tracklist, album cover in the days/weeks/months leading up to the release. There wasn't even a release date. She had a tour and nothing from the album was even performed (unless you count "Grown Woman" which only appears on the album as a video). She didn't do any late night shows or any of that before the album. Compare that to Kanye's Yeezus. Yeezus had far more promo than Beyonce in comparison. A performance on SNL is still promo.

The probability of capturing fans is irrelevant when you're talking about fan bases like Gucci and Jeezy.

People who listen to music that's poppin' are equivalent to people who form their opinions of music based on professional reviews by critics.

Yeezus did in fact sell, but it's still an album that left even his most die hard of fans with a in regard to that album. Some of them loved it, some hated it, and some are on the fence about it. Some just liked certain songs (this is basically my view of the album).
