Kanye West | YEEZS Album Review | The Big Urban

1) The album opens up eerily to a definite Non Hip-Hop sound. Which we can expect since it was produced by Daft Punk, The Electro Pop enters with all lasers blaring forth. Mr. West raps surely will make you laugh especially the ”Black D*ck All In Your Spouse” line, talking about Kim ? who knows.. AND THEN, The soulful cut comes through almost making us believe the intro was one big ruse, The lasers come back *sigh* Not exactly a great way to start the album but let us proceed.

2) One of the early cuts released from the album before it was completed ”Black Skinhead” resembles a race through the jungle with the animals in the background, It surely will get you hyped, the thumping beats and snaps will get you. ”I Keep it 300 like the romans” Now the lyrics might not be what you want, but you will enjoy the wittiness. This will most likely be your workout music if you want the motivation.

3) Now we get to the controversial ”I AM A GOD”, Now on first listen It’s almost confusing until you hear Kanye begin with ”I Am A God, Hurry up with my DAMN MASSAGE”, Now you know he’s coming for his respect on this track, You can feel his anger in this as to why no one is paying attention, The God part will annoy a lot of Christians out who have seen Kanye as nothing but ”devil worshipper”, I don’t believe none of that. You will pick up the beat is non Hip-Hop already, so we have a recurring theme going on that you shouldnt expect College Dropout Kanye on this.

4) The 2nd release from the abum we all heard on SNL ”New Slaves”. You can almost see the Ghost of Lupe is you open your eyes wide enough all over this track, I have no Qualms with this track, except for what he’s talking about ”F THE CORPORATIONS” When he’s one of the most arrogant and media frenzy rapper on the planet, as well as his TV Built Kardashian wife.

5) One of my personal favorites here, Got to close your eyes and hold that bottle to the sky as Chief Keef (YES, Big surprise) auto-tunes the hook, Kanye is putting his city on and Keef surely brings that edge you have been patiently waiting on. The production is different but close enough to Hip-Hop as we want, Now Kanye isn’t saying anything special on this track but we can still enjoy the overall coming of this song here.. ”I CANT Handle no liquor but these b*tches cant handle me”

6) We start of track #6 with an intro that’ll make you almost believe you were starring in a horror movie, The aura is dark enough on this one but halfway through the drums kick in and you can almost throw your fists in the air. You can almost sense the Jamaican influence on this one and you’re not wrong then Justin Vernon croons his way with Kanye too as with track #5 these are the much better tracks on the album.

7) I heard ”Strange Fruits” come on and I could swear I shed a tear, That Nina Simone sample helped me through many nights, And then Kanye comes on in a sound that resembles the 808′s era, Can’t hate on that, I loved 808′s and Heartbreaks. This track will help you through the coming winter. AND THEN the snaps and drums came on, NOW We’re talking Mr. West, If the clubs don’t play this something is wrong, You can scream Turn Up after you pay homage to the sample. Remember ”He only wanted to see that ass in reverse”

8) I only clicked play on this track because of the Kid Cudi feature, Then it dawned on me I had to wait halfway the track for it. Why Kanye, why. A perfectly wasted Cudi feature, Apart from that, There was absolutely nothing special about this track from the production to the lyrics, But enjoy the ”Bloacka” special though, Where’s MY NAME IS MY NAME, Pusha WHERE !!.. I calmed when Cudi began his ”If you loved me so much, why’d you let me gooooooo, oooooo”. The song ends by playing out the beat until we get to

9) Send It Up.. Started almost like a Swizz Beatz track with all the sirens, Already was not a fan of this track, seems over-produced with different sounds happening all at once and that dreadful hook, Come on Kanye, If you wanted to annoy us you could’ve just put a Big sean club song instead at least we’d have something to get the ladies twerking to.

10) If I ever get married or decide to serenade my lady, MAAAN this will be the track I’ll play to her, From the soulful start to the Charlie Wilson hook, I just shed tears to this. Mr. West THIS IS IT, What we have all waited for, what an end to this almost disappointing album, The story told the production, No way to hate on this, Remember ”White Dress” leak we had some months too, Thats the Kanye we want, not this new over produced ”Not-So-Genius” Kanye we have. Give a clap to Charlie for that hook. ”One Good Girl Is Worth A Thousand B*tches”, Do you think so ?

*With 10 tracks on the album there was bound to be a lot of hit and misses, Mainly misses unfortunately, The features and producers were almost out of place. Daft Punk ? Chief keef ?

*Overall, This album came across to me as rushed and almost trying too hard, The 3 or 4 tracks I loved on here compared to his other albums don’t hold a flame, well maybe ”Bound 2”. In my opinion, and Yes.. MY opinion, take it how you want I’d give this album a 6.5/10. Why well for one we already had the over-produced era with ”Watch The Throne” and kind of with Cruel Summer, we didnt need this again, especially when your most talked about song is the one that has the Original Kanye sound on it.
