Its impossible to be any good in the NBA if your center is a liability defensively. This is why I've advocated for 2 years for the Timberwolves to move Towns to PF and to target a defensive center to play alongside him. Until they make this move, they'll never be any good.

Bad defense by a big is way more damaging than bad defense by a guard.

The center is supposed to be the last line of defense. If he can't stop anybody then you're screwed regardless of how good the guards are defensively.

It makes sense if you watch him play. He's a nerdy kid who plays for stats. His style of play is very damaging to the team's chance to win.

Wiggins is a perimeter defender. Poor defense from your rim protector is way more damaging than poor defense from one of your guards.

He’s also half AA. Also, Horford is Dominican and is a pretty good defender. They both black anyway. Trevor Ariza is Dominican and he’s been one of the better defenders on the wing in the last decade.

nikkas was so infatuated with his highlight blocks at Kentucky and didn't realize both he and Okafor absolutely sucked defensively. Right now he's literally Okafor with 3pt range and the ability to actually rebound.

He'll never be a Deandre Jordan or Rudy Gobert defensively like he was hyped up pre-draft. That's why I don't think he's the generational transcendent talent people were making him out to be. His ceiling is basically a mild-mannered, more sponsor-friendly Demarcus Cousins with better leaping ability. Which is still good for putting out All-NBA 1st team seasons and getting All-Star starts but he's not some HOF 1st ballet 2-way talent who wins multiple rings for his franchise like a Duncan.
