Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Wednesday touted a new survey that shows him performing better against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton than the GOP’s standard-bearer Donald Trump in critical battleground states.

The former GOP presidential hopeful sent out a release citing Ballotpedia’s battlegrounds surveyreleased on Wednesday showing that Clinton leads Trump in seven battleground states in the general election.
Kasich pointed out that he actually leads the former secretary of State in a handful of key swing states. He also noted that he performs better against Clinton than House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). The poll found that Kasich defeats Clinton in six of these states, while Ryan is ahead of Clinton in three.

Ryan, who has endorsed Trump but has been critical of the presumptive GOP nominee, was once seen as an alternative who could be nominated at the party’s convention in Cleveland in an effort to block Trump from the nomination. But Ryan repeatedly brushed aside the possibility.

“This data is just further proof that Governor Kasich is the most popular Republican politician in the nation today and it underlines why his efforts to help our U.S. Senate and House candidates are so very important,” the release reads.

While on the campaign trail, Kasich frequently highlighted polls that showed him performing better in general election match-ups than Trump. The Ohio governor tried to appeal to voters as the most electable and moderate GOP candidate, but he dropped out in early May following Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) departure from the race.

So far, Kasich has declined to endorse Trump, saying in a recent interview earlier this month that it's a "painful" decision.

The GOP can try to run him as an Independent :manny: What's the issue? I'm sure his supporters will send him donations and he still has campaign money.

I'll always remember him for this.

All jokes aside, atleast he stayed in the race until the end even though it was mathematically impossible for him to win without a contested convention :heh: He should just do the right thing and give Trump that endorsement he earned. Atleast Trump won fair and square.
