Somewhere in Chicago
But anyway, this for my pops
On his lunch break, eating in the parking lot

On "Wanna Be Heard," probably thought he worked my nerves
But really he was stressing me, getting what I deserved

Somebody said my name on the radio
He ain't know I was ready for, the world that minute

So the next time he roll up and drop grams in it
He'll probably be out of work, laid back, while he

:ohlawd: These three lines hit so close to home. Dad coming home tired, beat to hell working his job at NICOR, having to begrudgingly turn off heat/gas at people's houses in the damn winter, almost fukking with his health. Always pushing to me and my brother to follow our dreams and strive for better and never settle. Took me long enough to actually realize and put to practice what he meant.

Interesting enough on this same song, Kendrick kinda took jabs at people on this board who hate on him whether coherently or not; damn near five years later.

You think about it, and don't call me lyrical
Cause really I'm just a nikka that's evil and spiritual
I know some rappers using big words to make their similes curve
My simplest shyt be more pivotal
I penetrate the hearts of good kids and criminals
Worrisome individuals that live life critical

So won't you bear witness while I bare feet
So you can walk in my shoes and get to know me

I actually love this beat. I'll tell you what Kendricks biggest mistake was. He went away from Digi-Phonics as his primary production team. Those guys are ridiculously dope. Once he went with that new bullshyt his weak vocals looked funny in the light.

This song is better than anything in TPAB by leaps and bounds.
