Celebrated Hip hop artist Yassin Bey better known as Mos Def will be in Nairobi, Kenya for Nairobi Hip Hop Rapsody on 28th of May 2015 at Ebony Lounge.
Founded by Kenyan Hip hop entrepreneurs: Buddha Blaze and Rashid Jibril; Nairobi Hip Hop Rapsody is a musical showcase created to put the city of Nairobi on the map of global Hip hop and promote Kenyan Hip hop as its home in East Africa. The event aims to bring Hip hop culture and artists closer to the fans in Nairobi.
Ranked 24th on the 50 Top MCs of our time by Source Magazine, Yassin Bey is an artist known for his strong socially conscious views and songs. He was a member of the Hip hop duo Black Star with Talib Kweli (who recently graced Nairboi Rapsody’s stage). He later embarked on a successful solo career that has seen him release worldwide hits like ‘Traveling Man’ with DJ Honda and ‘Miss Fat Booty’ – both have garnered him international acclaim.
Bey is also a well accomplished actor who’s appeared in several top Hollywood films such Bamboozled, Monsters Ball and Brown Sugar.
This will be Bey’s first visit to East Africa.
