IMO this really is a small smart way to increase the entertainment value of the game. There's so much money tied into performance/statistic incentives nowadays, that's why dudes don't take those shots anymore. Plus guys are also self-conscious about their efficiency.

Half-court shots are a form of shot that does very well on social media and sports talk shows as far as highlight goes. It's smart to find a way to raise those attempts if one can.

not to go over the top like omg the game is gone but its insane that guys stopped taking heaves and that theyre gonna placate that pussified behavior by not counting heaves. theres no risk to your team, only to your stats, yet you wont take a shot because you are more important than your team, its pathetic.
