They just have the aura to me of a group of spoiled rich kids that has everything and still complains that their new car isnt the right color. I know there's a lot of longtime real fans, I know a lot from the Bay, but mostly this same attitude is present in their homecrowd and "Silicon Valley" demographic.
The narrative around the team is that they're just a group of super talented guys that excel because they play together, move the ball and make smart plays, which is true. But because everyone has been so in love with them (largely as a response to Lebron fatigue and "I hate the NBA now" casuals) they dont talk about the other aspects, like the fact that they flop as much as anyone (Zaza, Lingingston, Curry, Draymond) but dont ge the rep, the whole team gets "superstar call" treatment most nights and at least a handful of blatantly wrong calls always seem to go in their favor every night, yet they still complain more than any team Ive ever seen. Spurs used to be the same way. But Draymond especially gets away with stuff with the refs consistently that Ive seen anyone get away with in all my years of watching the NBA. He has 11 techs, but if some players jumped around and screamed at the refs as much as he does they'd be tossed every game. Anyway, no one mentions it because their rep is that fun team that shoots 30 footers and celebrates constantly, but also somehow just plays the game the right way. They talk a lot of shyt but dont get the arrogant label. Curry has twice thrown his nasty mouthpiece at a ref and into the crowd yet has never been suspended is still considered a humble feel-good example for kids.
They went from an also-ran 1st/2nd round team to winning a championship out of nowhere in 2015 due to a fortunate run of luck and injured opponents. They set out to prove it wasnt a fluke in 16, but they couldnt. So instead of regrouping and coming back again, they add Durant in the type of move that we probably wont ever see again, as the new cap kicked in at just the right time, plus its unprecedented for a top 2-3 talent leaving their team to join the one he just choked a 3-1 to that already won the most reg season games in history without him and immediately he starts acting like hes been with them all along talking big shyt :jagfan:. Now everyone just acts like they've been "lightyears ahead" for years.
There's more but basically all of it just rubs me the wrong way.
