This is not about stats or numbers so spare me your nerd code. When Cari Champion said he didn't have heart she caught a lot of flack but she was on to something...Why is it that Kevin made a concerted effort this year to play defense and move the ball? Why wasn't he giving maximum effort on the team he was supposed to lead? Oh...I get it...it was the organizational culture. Well doesn't the best player usually set the tone for team culture? (Assuming ownership isn't abrasive) Why didn't Kevin make his voice heard about his displeasure with the team? We all knew Scott Brooks was complicit in all of this but Kevin let it ride all the way through.
Then comes the issue with Russell...How on God's earth did you stand there for years and let Russell go unchecked if you secretly held a grudge over it? Not once did this guy speak up as the "leader" of the team to get everyone to fall in line. Even after Russ approached him regarding changing his MO Kevin said nothing. So of course it makes sense that he skipped town like a thief in the night without letting his running mate no of his decision. Kobe & Shaq were a lot of things but they weren't afraid to voice their grievances with each other and the team/organization ultimately benefited from it.
Kevin is a phenomenal talent...hit the big shots when it counted within the comfiest circumstance ever...cool but all of this could have happened much sooner if he wasn't as sheepish as he is
By the way please don't compare Bron to KD because Jamario Moon has never been mistaken for Klay Thompson
