what happened to the days when southern rappers had their own sound? OutKast didn't sound like Ball & G, didn't sound like 3-6, Cash Money Mannie era didn't sound like No Limit, they didn't sound like Paul & Cham, they didn't sound like the Geto Boys & even the Geto Boys didn't sound like a Scarface solo album. now all these new cats all have the same sounding generic trap beats so what would make me want to check out any new shyt?

Gates raps over trap beats (though I think his production is some of the best among Southern artists), but where he really shines is songwriting. He's a fantastic hook creator and a more than serviceable lyricist.
