:manny: Lakers front office have moved the 2014 FA plan to 2015, which was why they gave Kobe that big ass contract since they know they have no shot at Bron. Even though Kobe would want Melo, Laker front office aren't too keen on Melo. Kobe & Phil urged the Lakers to trade Bynum & assets for Melo during the Melo-Drama of 2011, but Laker front office didn't. Laker plan is looking like 2014 1st round pick, 2015 aim is to get Love, and 2016 ultimately is to get Durant when Kobe's big ass contract ends and he retires, so they have plans. Durant won't happen, but Love to LA is looking like a lock.

:ehh:Good gameplan. Durant is most likely out of the picture, but Love and Westbrook makes sense.:yeshrug:

Sources say Kobe wants Melo on the Lakers badly though. I don't think he feels like waiting another year.:yeshrug:

:yeshrug: As great as Kobe has been, he made his money and will be the highest paid player going forward and his contract has messed up the Lakers cap space. Kobe gonna make 30 million, he can wait. :jawalrus: And if I was Melo, I would go to the Bulls instead. A maxed Melo & Kobe can make noise, especially if they get Embiid as the defensive anchor, but the Lakers would still be behind the Thunder and other teams in the West. It would just be Kobe, Melo, 2014 1st round pick, and vet minimum players, and that on paper won't win it all, plus Melo is going to be 34 at the end of his contract. I would much rather have a younger and soon to be in his prime Love than Melo currently.

Honestly it doesn't matter what Kobe wants. He took that contract. If he took a discount they could have added Two Max contracts. So fukk him, Lakers need to set themselves up for the future.
