As a kid, I preferred Nash/Hall over Rock/Austin (well, WCW in general over WWF, especially for the Wolfpac) until Mark Foley had his run and Hoegan made the red and black uncool. :ld: I mean, all four of them were over as fukk. McMahon likes to rewrite history, but the fans popped HUGE when Nash ended Whisker Biscuit's streak:

(Pre-set to 2:30, watch until the end to watch the crowd go nuts for Big Sexy)

Nash was definitely top 5 most over between both companies in 1998. That being said, Austin and Rock got the biggest pops consistently from 98 forward, especially after the :scust: that followed the Fingerpoke of Doom. :pacspit: Hoegan.

not trying to go against your opinion, but alotta fans were sick and tired of goldberg's run, and anyone beating him woulda got a huge pop.

was curious, found some references:

nash winning his only title as a true face in wcw (TIMEMARK 21:20)

austin winning title

austin run-in followed by rock winning title

rock winning title

Listening now. Nash always plays the too cool for school schtich. Thing that's standing out to me, and I've gotten this vibe from other interviews... you can tell he's still legit salty about his feud and promos with CM Punk, and how Punk made him look foolish.

It couldn't have been just anyone, Nash made sense at the time. Wolfpac Nash in '98 was huge. HUGE. DDP ending it at Halloween Havoc a few months earlier would've been great, but nobody watching at home would get to witness the defeat live. :yeshrug:

:salute: the videos you posted and those pops. Backlash 2000... amazing.

Nash always is one of the most entertaining people with his shoot interviews nowadays, you just have to take them with a heavy grain of salt. I'd bet he's chain smoking sativa every time the cameras stop

What a fukkin spin this is...A complete misquote. I listened to this podcast and when it was in context it didnt sound as bad as you tryna spin it. When the Outsiders were invading WCW they absolutely had bigger pops than Austin or Rock did...at that time. But that really wasn't about what they were talking about..that wasn't even what he said. Nash wasn't really trying to discredit Rock or his good friend Austin or even put himself over them. Maybe pop is the wrong word...and Nash never used that. In the context of the interview Nash was pretty much talking about the impact they had on nitro saying that they were generating a buzz comparable to The Rock and Austin without running to the ring and whipping peoples ass or cutting promos.. Just a little frame of reference for you who didn't listen to the actual podcast. Vince Russo asked him when did he realize that the Outsider angle was taking off
this is what was said...
"when we would do a 2 hour Nitro and the people would wait and wait and wait for Scott and I to go to a portal and get hit with a spotlight and thats all we would do for the night"..."The crowd would erupt because they know the Outsiders were in the house"..."I'll say this to Steve, Rock, anybody else's face...you name somebody whose ever got that response without coming down to the ring and cutting a promo, we got that response with a 30 second spotlight spot"

Yup, Nash reads the TSC and says this shyt to get you guys tight lol

As much as I like the truth, seeing these Marks and washed up @Scott_Steiner get their panties in a bunch over my comments is even better. I honestly should start a Big Sexy Podcast where I put myself over during the attitude era and bury a different Vanilla Midget each and every week. I will say though, the pop I received for pinning Goldberg and winning the strap was undeniable.

Let me set the record straight, like I've done in various interviews over the past 4 years: I would have put Punk over if we went through with our match in 2011. It would have made zero sense for me to win. I wasn't too thrilled with the feud but that was more because of the writing and payoff than anything to do with Phil. If anything, I was probably annoyed with not being able to go off script as much as I would have liked when Punk did.

Wolfpack, Sting, DDP, & Goldberg were getting just as big as reactions in 98

But none of them had a POP of the crowd like when the glass broke or when If Ya smell or do you smell hit. I'd even put Foley above some of them.

All popular guys who were huge but if we're just talking pops, who's out popping Austin? Maybe crow Sting in 97 but thats it

What crowd dId WWF play as big as sold out Georgia dome before wrestlemania 17?

Having a large venue has nothing to do with who elicits a pop as in literally who makes the crowd jump and go crazy. And for Monday nights in and out Austin had the biggest. WCW guys were huge no doubt but we're talking strictly pops
