I’m actually going through a rewatch now, I’m on season 5 - they just finished Conway with the recordings. I give the HoC showrunners more grace for the final season than the GoT showrunners, they had a blank cheque and no scandals and still manage to butcher that.

That's not why they pulled him from the show though. The pulled him because of the accusations which he ended up being acquitted of a few years later (I think. I haven't kept up with the cases.)

The issues he is dealing with now are separate (I think). They could have easily managed his behavior. They had the budget for it.
