so here’s a question, I remember last year during the Wentz trade, weren’t the Eagles still on the hook for his cap hit for another year as dead money? Am I misremembering or will that happen to us too?

They took a big hit but his contract was different. Jimmy has one year left, none of it guaranteed. They can trade or cut him with basically no hit, will create about $25 million in cap space

we'll have to agree to disagree breh a db is never expected to make a catch, a punt returner is expected not to fumble in his own territory
I believe the defense gave up only 3 on that drive....

while i can kinda agree with this , that ball wasnt just any regular pass. any and every DB is supposed to make that catch

1. Tartt is EXPECTED to pick that ball off, it was literally the easiest interception a DB can ever make.

2. I don't consider that a relatively positive play on defense at all, the next play was a 40+ yard gain and the Rams turning the tide by marching down the field and erasing our lead. If Tartt makes that pick we pretty much win the game. It was the worst play of the day and swung the game.

Uncontested, no one around him, it was basically a punt. If you can't be expected to make that play you shouldn't be in the league.

Trey needs to be, and should be, much better than Jimmy. He has twice as much physical talent. This system makes life easy on the QB once they have a grip on it.

Still think it was smart to sit him this year. Still gonna take lumps next year but knows the playbook and had a year to learn how to prepare at the NFL level. Bigger deal for him than someone who was a three year starter in college. Especially with a team and fanbase that expected to contend this year

I completely agree it was fine sitting him this year, we had a QB who took us to the SB and ultimately were one score away from going back this year. Playing him would have just meant we wouldn't be in the playoffs at all. He just better be ready to lead this offense next season

welcome back breh, we ain't seen you in a minute. I disagree on Ward, I'd take him back in a heartbeat, I think he's underrated. I'd also love to see Most-hurt back too have him and Mitchell split carries, Mitchell faded down the stretch because teams keyed on him he got tough yards but wasn't the homerun threat Mostert was.

Ward isn't going anywhere. He's a solid safety. I'm not sure if Hasty's contract situation, but if he's a FA they probably won't bring him back.

K'Waun Williams is a FA as well. He's most likely gone. He's struggling playing man coverage and that's a problem for a slot corner. Niners need to find a replacement for him, probably through the draft.
