Loved kid N play before house party. fukk ya'll ho ass nikkas that's dissing them. They werent the greatest and were never called the greatest, they dropped some memorable songs and classic movies. Like many from that era, they had their time, left their mark and faded away.

I respect them. they made good fun music that was relatively "clean" but still good. plus classic movies. Also...I definitely have a lot of respect for Play also because he used to be a GOON before rap, but didn't have to brag and glorify crime to make good rap music.

Kids wrote almost all their rhymes as well... Gettin Funky was my sh!t ... But comparing it to today ... they stayed in their lane. They made party songs and never tried to changed there look. Thats whats wrong with today. Just make what you want, be who you are and dont degrade your image to be accepted.

im surprised no one said they say were "c00nin" :skip:

The pair met while performing in rival high school groups The Turnout Brothers and The Super Lovers, and initially formed their duo under the name The Fresh Force Crew. In 1986 She's a Skeezer and Rock Me were recorded. By 1987 they had changed their name to Kid 'n Play.

What part of New York were they from? Wikipedia just says New York City

I think Kid is from the BX. Play is from somewhere in Jamaica but he used to be around my way all the time...he had a barbershop in East Elmhurst called 4 play.

I loved them back when. It wasn't really the music per se, but there were some standouts. I guess "Rollin with Kid n Play" would be their biggest hit. And if you're my age (35) you definitely tried to dance like them and jump over your leg and shlt.

Honestly though, it was the House Party flicks that kept them relevant. Those were funny mostly, put on a bunch of heads that kept acting, and kind of pioneered for later black comedies in my opinion, (Friday etc.)
