Kill or be killed?

You wake up disoriented in a room you've never been in before. You try to stand up and you realize you're strapped to a table.

A voice fills the room.

The voice tells you to kill yourself or kill the person next to you. The voice tells you, you have ten minutes to decide. After five minutes the offer will be made to the other captive.

If you don't decide you both die.

Put the average person in the OP's scenario and you'd find out just how wrong you are, I bet you aren't confident enough in your assertion to be the second person to be made the kill or be killed offer.
