Woman Killed After 'Gloating' Over Cowboys' Win: Police

Authorities said an Austin woman's exuberance about the Dallas Cowboys beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday night led her stepson to fatally stab her.

An arrest affidavit obtained by NBC Dallas-Fort Worth shows Magdalena Ruiz was "gloating" about the Cowboys' win after watching the game on TV with her husband.

Detectives said Ruiz's stepson, 20-year-old Pontrey O'Neal Jones, believed she was disrespecting his father, so he walked behind a couch, lunged at her and stabbed his stepmother several times.

The woman's husband stepped in to stop the attack and Jones fled. Police later found him nearby.
