Expand your cosmic world. Let's dive into "The Psychic World of Walter Reed: Illuminated Lyrics" publishing project . . .
For Killah Priest, the February 2013 release of the widely acclaimed double-album “The Psychic World of Walter Reed” marked a special point in his career as a musician. The occasion was especially unique to him in that the “P.W.O.W.R” album was the first official release under Priesthood’s Proverbs Records imprint. So, for him, the release of that project meant he was going to be a completely independent artist for the first time in his long-standing history as an MC.
By becoming CEO of his own brand, he now has the ability to take his craft to the next level, unrestrained by the creatively constrictive interests of commercial music production. This is where “The Psychic World of Walter Reed: Illuminated Lyrics” book project comes in. Being that the “P.W.O.W.R” stands as his first release after being blessed by this newfound creative freedom, it is important that it commemorated in such a way that can set the bar for all of Proverbs Records future endeavors. To do that, we need your help.
Let us lay it all out for you: Design-wise, “The Psychic World of Walter Reed: Illuminated Lyrics” is a finished product, and to get to this stage a small team of artists and editors have worked diligently for the past eight months coming up with inventive ways to present the high-intensity lyrics showcased on the “P.W.O.W.R.” album. The result of their efforts is a 160-page, 6”x9” softcover book featuring full color renderings of all illustrations and printed on high quality paper. As a special bonus for readers, the final version of the book includes an introduction authored by Killah Priest and a full color middle insert displaying various exclusive photos, rare examples of Killah Priest’s writing, and other interesting, visually striking pieces of illustrated fan service. In the end, that’s who this book is for, the fans, whether they are fans of Priesthood, fans of Hip-hop, fans of poetry, or fans of literary innovation in general.
And that’s where Priest needs your support! With a finished manuscript that’s already gone through the first galley proof stage and is ready for printing, he now needs money to cover those printing costs as well as some other expenses associated with the production of the book. The plan is to use the kickstarter funding to provide for the cost of the first print run, a small marketing budget, shipping and packaging costs, and any other associated expenditures (2nd galley proofs, promo, etc.). There are also plans to implement a stretch goal of an additional $3,000 to help fund the further development of "The Psychic World of Walter Reed: Illuminated Lyrics" ebook. As of now, the ebook is merely a PDF version of the printed edition, but we would like to embed all of the PWOWR music videos into this PDF to make it a more complete experience. In order to do this though, more development time is needed and one of the Priest Team's talented develpers will need to be compensated. This part of the project could rollover into developing EPUB, MOBI, and IBOOKS versions as well, which could include even more interactive features and multimedia, but this can't happen without additional funding.

Foremost, there is very little risk involved with this project as most of the work has already been completed. The hardest parts of the creative and production process is done, and all that is left is the final steps to bring this project to life.
That being said, there are still some challenges we face. For instance, we have yet to make a final choice on the printer we will use for this project, and although we have been in negotiations with a few different companies, we still need to select the one that is going to offer us the greatest value in printing without sacrificing quality. This will inevitably be worked out, but it is the selection of the printer and the accompanying wait time before that printer can fulfill our order that necessitates the November 2014 delivery date that we have listed here for the book and merchandise. This is perhaps the greatest challenge this project faces, but it is certain that it can be worked out, and with all of your support, we can make sure this book gets the treatment it deserves.
