"In his interview with Spin, Killer Mike also revealed that 50 Cent may have unknowingly “damaged” his early career. However, that is simply because Mike compared his sales to 50’s sales. The two were both on a major label. However, 50 Cent far outsold Killer Mike. “My first record deal damaged me. It made me afraid, it pulled me back. I hadn’t done terribly on the major,” he said. “I just, you know, I came out the same year as 50, selling 10 million f*cking records.” Killer Mike went on to say the experience made him realize he is more comfortable with independent artists"

Wasn't no one outselling 50 that year...

He was everywhere and I mean everywhere !!!

The streets definitely went out supported him plus he flooded the market with those G-Unit Radio tapes.

Killer Mike's Monster album should have dropped in 2002 considering that he had a window of time to put out music. What bothers me is that no one talks about The Whole World video like that.

Monster got caught in the mix too...

Everyone was either playing Get Rich Or Die Tryin or Diplomatic Immunity or still playing Nas's God's Son album.

The 50 Cent/Diplomats mixtape era was still in its early stages so that definitely played a factor.

Monster felt more like a OutKast album, crazy enough that Dre/Big Boi were the executive producers.

Killer Mike is one of Hip Hop's biggest posers.

Takes checks from Republican caucasian politicians and lobbies for them, and then tries to come back later and talk about how he's all about "black revolution". Dude is way too fake for the culture. Wasn't nobody thinking about no damn Killer Mike when 50 was dropping. He's wildin'.

The headline is taking what he said out of context. He said his first record deal damaged him. Then he just says he came out the same year 50 blew up and that turns into "50 damaged my career" for clicks and everybody falls for it.

Mike retarded to even try and compare his sales to 50's or have that discourage him

Nah, record labels are very monkey see monkey do so when you got a guy like Killer Mike and a guy like 50 Cent blows up labels will shift all their attention to trying to get a 50 Cent and if they're both on the same label they'll put all their focus on the 50 Cent. A lot of rappers put their heart and soul into those first albums and see another artist come through with theirs and become a mega star will discourage you.

I know he does that but I thought they were Democrats, not Republicans.

Nah, he was rolling with the dude Brian Kemp. He was sending Killer Mike money to speak out against Democrats and sh*t. This dude was taking money out of black schools and black-owned businesses in GA, and sending mad police into black neighborhoods to search and seize whatever they could find. KM got paid to go around and praise this dude as being "good for Georgia". But then he does records that say the opposite. Serious epitome of a fraud and hypocrite.

The problem is, he was on the campaign literally supporting a dude who was trying his hardest to suppress black voters, but then he acts like he's for his own people. He's a sellout. And they paid and used him because he had a platform. Huffington Post did a whole article on him too, speaking about how what he's doing is dangerous. But people will do anything for bread these days. Even sell out their own people.
