It really depends on where you live. Atlanta and D.C. doesn't really represent most of Black America. And I say that as someone who lives in Atlanta. Its black people from all over - yes - historically black - but the blacks coming/moving to the city- have no ties - so they dont send their children to those schools.

They brought and are bringing the same anti-blackness they had before they moved to Atlanta with them. And D.C. is greatly mixed with black people from all over the world.

I'm talking about Detriot, Flint, Chicago, Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati, places in the deep south- where they either have no other choice or directly choose to be in black neighborhoods. Where black America is rooted.

Many black Americans do live in Black areas - even middle class ones - and if they are not directly in one - they are right outside of one - and still have members or their families there - and have a connection to the area - and want what's best.
All the Cleveland brehs know, but for y'all that don't :mjcry:

Cleveland public schools fail every year :mjcry:

I've worked with high school kids that struggle to read instruction manuals :mjcry:
Worked with a charity a few years ago for students about 18 of them and only saw 3 parents 2 of which were together.:mjcry:

I don't know what the solution is, I try to help individuals but it's thousands of students:mjcry::mjcry::mjcry:

Are there any private majority black private schools in the US?

In the whole of the UK there are probably like a max of 200 black kids in private school, so I’d never send my child to one.

But I’d definitely push for them to go to a more elite university.

honestly him and Yee offer very little

yee only offers gossip beside that she seems useless.

despite his flaws, Cthagod carries that show overall clearly. When hes not there the show is boring.
I agree although I guess some females want to hear that gossip giving Yee a purpose there.

I can tell you from my experience that I can't do public school. for me, they do too much teaching to the test. They drill nothing but reading and math in the kids and fail to incorporate science, social studies, arts, music into the curriculum. I hate the fact at we are judged by these standardized tests. Teachers jobs are on the line if students don't pass these tests. Kids are being passed along, not being challenged at all. NO homework. For me, public school is nothing but a babysitter for my kids. Again, that's my experience. If i could send my kids to a top rated academic school that is majority black, I would do it in a heartbeat. But I'm in Minnesota and those don't exist. For me, it's private and charter school for elementary. Then hopefully HBCU for college.
That common core bullshyt is the worst

They both have valid points. I can appreciate Mike looking at the bigger picture that is the overall system. However, Envy makes a valid point in that the average working class or poor Black parent doesn't have the means to affect change on the level that Mike fantasizes about.
Agreed. The bigger picture i believe Mike was getting at was black pride. It's hard to have that if all of your formative years were spent around non-blacks, being educated by non-blacks, and learning little to nothing about your people. He wasn't explicitly against private schools he just said your child should go to a public(black) school til at least they're thirteen.

My main problem with Envy's position is that given his wealth and connections, he has no excuse for not doing what Mike suggested and starting a school or help funding one.

when did public school equal black pride though? ahh public black school. But those don't always exist. Especially a good one. Every city isn't Atlanta.
