Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is reportedly poised to rake in over $200 million in revenue this year, with the star walking away with $85 million for her own coffers.
Bloomberg reports the free-to-play mobile game, which launched on June 25, is managing to coax those who play it into spending impressive amounts of cash as they try to climb the celebrity ranks and join Kardashian on the A-list.
Sources have also told
TMZ that Kim's cut of the profits comes in at 45 percent, meaning she'll be taking home $85 million. To put this in perspective, this is more money than she's made from all her other ventures in the last year combined, from endorsements to fashions and fragrances, as 2013
saw her take home a paltry-by-comparison $28 million.
Does this mean we're likely to see a massive wave of celebrity-endorsed games? Possibly. But one thing's for certain: anyone wondering why so many publishers are investigating the free-to-play mobile space need look further for evidence that when they strike gold, they hit the motherload.
