Isn't that what happens with college? Not to mention it cost money you may not even have to learn a trade
That’s my point. How you gonna demonize college bc of debt then push trades?Isn't that what happens with college?
Debt wouldn't be as high with a trade. And there's more chances individuals can pay it cash. That’s my point. How you gonna demonize college bc of debt then push trades?
Not to mention this nikka loves shouting out his degrees. But now he’s saying it’s not worth it?
Well a college degree is becoming more worthless by the day due to AI. So I guess it is just a debate of semantics which doesn't negate his observation in any form. And as he noted college debt is one of the largest issues facing this country and the unemployment rate of people with degrees is only climbing. That’s my point. The people who are picking terrible majors or not taking advantage of the opportunity is a personal choice. It shouldn’t be fukk college when you were the one to set yourself up for failure. College definitely preys on people but it’s also ripe to be taken advantage of as well.Debt wouldn't be as high with a trade. And there's more chances individuals can pay it cash.
I'm not for or against college. But i do think most people are going for the wrong reasons, in the wrong degrees, using the wrong financial strategy. I also do think the way prices are set up is a giant scam. but I don't want to derail the thread...
There’s a long way to go before we really start talking about AI killing jobs. Debt is an issue, tuition needs to be corrected, but as it is now…there aren’t many more sure fire ways to move up into a new economic class without college and managing that debt. Especially for black people…you choose the right fields and majors and focus and you will eatWell a college degree is becoming more worthless by the day due to AI. He point was black people go to college and are still unemployed. But that's probably the fields they're going in are not on high demand like the sciences.I still don’t care about any of this Ebony shyt but this is dangerous: College is not a opportunity for blacks
Absolutely false. Debt is a tool that responsibly can be used to improve your situation. And Umar saying these trades make more than doctors is not the full story. How many do you think are pulling in more than the degree solutions he compared? He’s using the anomalies in the data to make points

There’s so many nuances. All HBCUs are not for the upper class blacks just as all aren’t for the lower class ones. For example as influential as Morehouse is…why go there and run up your debt when GSU right around the corner. Personal responsibility, without sounding like a conservative, is something to talk about in these scenarios. Decide where and why you’re going to this school. What are you doing when you get there and what are your plans when you’re done. Too many people go to college thinking a degree is a magic piece of paper. Why get a biology degree if your plan isn’t to continue studying for higher education etc.He point was black people go to college and are still unemployed. As far trades schools. Some of them you can get within 1-2 years. Instead four years where you're taking classes that have nothing to do with your degree.
My main issue with black people and college is we romantize going away to college without an economic plan. Especially these big time HBCU schools whose tuition is not for poor Blacks. I know plenty of kids who are starving (almost literally) because they chose to go to college. Cant afford food each week with their little jobs. No plan for college until their senior year. For scholarships, grants.
usually umarsexuals target black men that pawg but will show their teeth when it comes to them..... crazy times we are living in
100% agree. I graduated Friday with Masters in school counseling to help Black kids think in this way. We just don't get it and it gets me heated. There’s so many nuances.
