Only time it makes sense to use credit:

When you have a major emergency and there's no other way to immediately pay the cost.....or......

You're buying something you can easily afford in cash (plane tickets, sporting event ticket, new TV etc) but you wanna get some kind of cash back perks on credit cards you hardly use.

Issue is when you use credit on shyt that's not a "need", just a splurge but you can't afford it.

I use credit card for everything. I budget and pay it off im full each month. It's free money for people that have impulse control when you use the points

only 6 months with a $12k purchase? that's pretty stingy. shyt home depot gives me 24 months for a purchase greater than $1999.
I was using one example. There are others, like 18+ months depending on the store and items purchased. My main point though is that deals like that are a boon to people who want to smooth out the pain of an expensive purchase, instead of paying it all upfront since you can do it without paying any interest if you pay it off before the deadline.

If you don't though, all of that interest from the beginnig is tacked on after that.

This is how I do it too. Especially since using a credit card protects my actual bank accounts from theft by those who are taking a payment. Credit is a lot easier to recover thievery from than debit.

But most don't. It is a trap to get people who dont have the money to do it thinking they can manage the payments...they usually don't.
