The problem with AAU has nothing to do with basketball skills or fundamentals.
The problem with AAU is that it puts a tremendous amount of (financial, travel, and other) stress on kids and their families to perform at multiple games/tournaments, and has made the high school game largely irrelevant.
Kobe starting a league to teach the game is a very, very good thing.
But this will solve nothing regarding the AAU system.
