this is sports. the all-time home run record in baseball, all-time scoring record in basketball, the all-time rushing record in football. all are hallowed records that are a measure of greatness.
playing for a long time at a really high level and accumulating more stats than anyone else in the HISTORY of the sport is a big deal. if Kobe gets the all-time scoring record it will be a big deal for his legacy.
true. but the decline has begun. to me he looks like 2010 kobe. still tops in the game and can still lead a team to the ring. but those finishes at the rim that used to be effortless are now alot harder. shots that never were blocked in the past are now getting blocked. guys that never used to be able to stay in front of him are now staying infront of him. playing defense also becomes a struggle most nights.
the reason i say he might not play as long as you think he will is because of how shoddy his skills still are. his footwork is still pathetic. his post game is just brute strength. if you cut off his driving lanes and close out, he doesn't have any counter moves. the best thing lebron has going for him now is that he's become a great shooter from the perimeter when you give him room. the key being he needs room. he's still terrible when it comes to hitting contested shots.
like I said I think he'll go out like A.I.
once his athleticism totally fades he'll be outta the league in the blink of an eye. i don't see him being as dominant as kobe in his mid to late 30s.
Lebron's footwork isn't as bad as you're making it. Lebron will make slower defenders look absolutely dumb if they press too close to him on the post, he has a hook from both sides, and he's still strong enough that he can probably overpower anyone 3-4 in the league that isn't Blake, West, or Gibson.
Lebron in 2-3 years will be like Kobe was in 09-11. He'll play like a top 10 player for the most part but he'll show out for big games and remind you of how good he can be.
Lebron will still be a 20+ PPG scorer in a couple of years and he'll still be able to drop 6-7 AST with little issue.
this is sports. the all-time home run record in baseball, all-time scoring record in basketball, the all-time rushing record in football. all are hallowed records that are a measure of greatness.
u think 32 year old lebron can be 2009 kobe? the dude who put up 61 in the garden.
