The untimely death of streetball legend Alimoe sent shockwaves through the entire basketball community this week. SLAM’s Joseph Vecsey reports that Kobe Bryant, Al’s favorite NBA basketball player, is showing his respects by sending his signed sneakers for Alimoe’s funeral service. “Today, his favorite NBA basketball player Kobe Bryant sent his sneakers signed to Alimoe for Al to have forever,” Vecsey said. “I know Alimoe is not only going to be smiling wide in Heaven when his family receives them for him to have, but he’s also going to be doing some bragging. I can see him now saying, ‘Y’all better do some reading around here…the Black Mamba is a fan of The Black Widow.’”

Funeral Services for Tyrone “Alimoe” Evans will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at New Mt. Zion Church on 140th Street between 7th (Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.) and Lenox Avenue. The viewing will take place from 3- 7 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Flowers can be sent to New Mt. Zion Church 171 West 140th Street New York, NY 10030.
