Stripper charged with hit-and-run of Canadian tourist attending Ultra

Miami-Dade police on Monday charged Olivia Bennett, 26, with two felony counts related to reckless driving while leaving the scene of a crash with bodily injury. Police say Bennett struck Alex Sanghwan, 22, a Canadian tourist, around 5:30 a.m. Sunday near the King of Diamonds strip club, at 178th Street and Northeast Fifth Avenue. Police say she sped off in her blue BMW 328i, without stopping to help.
Miami-Dade police have charged a stripper with a hit-and-run that critically injured a Canadian tourist who was attending the Ultra Music Festival over the weekend.
Police released an arrest affidavit Monday night documenting the arrest of Olivia Bennett, 26. Bennett is charged with striking Alex Sanghwan, 22, around 5:30 a.m. Sunday near the King of Diamonds strip club, at 178th Street and Northeast Fifth Avenue. Bennett, whom police described as a dancer, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with two felony counts related to reckless driving while leaving the scene of a crash with bodily injury.
According to the affidavit, Bennett struck Sanghwan, in town from Ontario, in front of several witnesses in a well-lit area near the strip club. Police say Bennett was headed east on Northeast Fifth Avenue in her blue BMW 328i, and sped off without stopping to help after her car hit the tourist.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported Sanghwan to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Sanghwan was in Miami to attend the Ultra Music Festival, according to WPLG Local 10.

On Monday, police say they found Bennett’s damaged BMW in the parking lot at Tootsie’s Cabaret, a Miami Gardens strip club. Police say Bennett turned herself in Monday at the Coconut Grove law office of Gerald Tobin. Bennett couldn’t prove she had a driver’s license, according to the arrest report.
Attempts to reach Tobin at his office and through email late Monday night were unsuccessful.
