It’s a border state. Not the south but a transitory region if that makes sense. The northern half is influenced by Philly with a dash of Baltimore and New York in there. The lower half of Delaware feels culturally like rural Maryland (until you get to the beaches then it feels like the New Jersey beaches). It’s a very urban north and a very rural country south. And if you drive south in Delaware the state eventually ends after 2 hours or so of driving but the peninsula connects to Maryland and later on to Virginia. So it’s connected. You can be in the Philly area (which Northern Delaware is a part of) and drive to Virginia Beach in a straight line in 4 to 5 hours.

Outside of Wilmington, culturally Delaware is the South. Technically the whole state is located in the south tho.

Delaware is the North. Stop it. When I lived in Memphis, Tennessee I couldn’t go anywhere without people realizing I wasn’t from there. The way I dressed, talked, looked. I stuck out like a sore thumb.
