I was talking about it with a couple of friends of mine today. In general we think that these are the two best incarnations of the King of Fighters ever made. With 98 hands down being a classic fighting game overall and KOF 13 being one of the best fighting games this gen.
Personally I think that SNK caught lightning in a bottle with 98. Everything just fits so perfectly..the gameplay is solid, had a great roster of characters (Though I wish that Orochi Iori and Orochi Leona were here, but I guess the evil versions of Yashiro/Chris/Shermie will have to do) and it has a great amount of replay value for a fighting game (When it comes to playing by yourself), considering the levels of difficulty and the game itself giving you a serious run for your money.
SNK wasn't able to make this kind of KOF piff until 13 (KOF 2002 and 2001 were great though...99 and 2003 were trash)
I feel the same way about 13 as well, great artwork and graphics, new and interesting movesets and supers, and modes, along with a bunch of new characters and bosses.
Which do you guys think is better? It's hard for me to choose, but I pick 98, but by a very small margin...
