BOXTOROW Goes One on One Podcast: Kool G. Rap

He’s a pioneer in the rap game. His name is Kool G. Rap.

Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z are a few of the rappers that G Rap influenced. During his heyday, he was different than anyone that had been heard before, at least coming out of New York.

His street stories and sexual exploits on record are legendary. Teaming with DJ Polo, they were in the mold of Eric B. and Rakim, but harder.

G Rap is still in the game and doing his thing. On February 17, he did a show in the Poconos with Big Daddy Kane in a Juice Crew reunion of sorts.

G Rap appeared on the national radio program BOXTOROW w/ Donal Ware on SiriusXM Channel 141 and didn’t hold back, speaking on his career, rap and rappers today and his love for the sport of boxing.

G Rap spoke to Boxtorow Goes One on One on SiriusXM Radio. Interviewed by host Donal Ware, the “Ill Street Blues” creator revealed plans for his first solo album since 2011’s Riches, Royalty, Respect. “It’s called The Return Of A Don. It’s featuring many dope rappers, many dope MCs, and certain cats in the game who I consider more than just my peers in Hip-Hop, but actual brothers. [There are] names on there like Saigon, names on there like Raekwon, rest in peace to my man Sean Price, who I was fortunate enough to [record with] before he passed on to the Essence.” The legendary MC revealed that some remaining “red tape” is the only thing in the way of a confirmed date. “It’s coming soon though, baby.”

He never did have the greatest production after Juice Crew broke up

His lyrical skills always carried his albums

the biggest reason why I don't really check for G Rap. Great rapper, but consistently shytty beats. Complete career misfire as far as I'm concerned.
