Almost no one turns down the WWE given that their checks are bigger than anyone else's. Well this guy was the star of some of the best programming WWE ever created in the Cruiserweight Classic, they offer him a duffel bag of money to be the top star of the Cruiserweight division and he turns it down to:
-be an anime character in New Japan (part-time, he still won't sign long-term with them)
-be an ancient warlord and do matches on moving trains in DDT
-shoot fireworks on himself atop a car in some Brit indy called XWT, drawing mainstream attention
In his own words:
That's passion...and by the way, dude is arguably one of the 10 best wrasslers on Earth. His Phoenix Splash is breathtaking.

In his own words:
Thing is, doing the CWC, what I did learn was that I have no problem flying out to places to wrestle. I thought it’d suck, it didn’t. But i thought ‘is wrestling in that kind of circumstance, that environment really best for me?’ And it isn’t. Maybe for other people, not me. I really don’t wrestle for the money, anyway.”
