Underappreciated, not underrated. Cos I think most people who have actually taken the time to look into him rates him highly, but it's sad that it's not as many people as his talent warrants. Because it's clear to anybody who knows hiphop that KRIT is top 5 at the very least out of these new school rappers (personally think he's #2 behind Kendrick) yet sells substantially less & is less known than these other cats.

So you guys think he'll be able to break into the mainstream more or will he continue to be ignored by the masses cos he doesn't know how to not keep it real?

I hope not...I've liked his projects just as much, and if we're being all the way real...more than, OD and GKMC...don't think he'll ever realistically get the acclaim Kendrick has...just hope that his next Def Jam release is more on par with his free projects and it gets some love

he's a corny david banner kanye hybrid that isn't as talented or creative as either of those guys despite his best attempts to convince us otherwise

:stopitslime: probably the most unnecessarily, overused word besides 'classic' among hiphop fans smh

I know hiphop and I think he isn't even top50.

Let me break it down for you.
Why do you put someone in your Top X? Because that artist stands out in some way. Does something that nobody else does. Or just does it so well that the rest of the industry should just give up in that lane.

And then we have Big KRIT. Tell me, what does he do well?

"Country rap tunes?". Nope, he is pretty generic. He straight stole his flow, his voice, his entire style. Hell, people confused the guy with a Pimp C impersonator when they first heard of him.

Producing? He is the most predictable producer out right now. He is like those people on youtube with the "FL STUDIO SMOOTH UGK STYLE BEAT 140. WITH GUITARS" videos.

Work ethics? Anyone can release 50 mixtapes a year if they want. The guy had like 3 original songs, and keeps on remaking those for his new LPs.
Tell me how many memorable songs does he have that you can recall right now. He has Moon & Stars, Country shyt and Diamonds & Wood. Wait, fukk, no.

His songs sound the same, his beats sound the same, he raps about the same damn thing over and over again.

He has no right to be in anyone's top5.
He is just a guy who has way too many time on his hands and is basicly forcing himself down on everyone's throats.

he's a bland cornball with no personality or anything interesting in his music

his songs are always him bytching about being a choir boy or not being gangsta enough to hang with the street nikkas, over shytty jazz trumpets and synths

I like some of his music but i've said it many times. My personal problem with his projects is that ever since R4 his following projects have been sounding more or less like rehashes of songs done on his earlier projects. his tapes sound too formulatic to me. "ok, we need a "country shyt" type song, a smooth pimping type song, a socially conscious but i'm the same as y'all type song, a soul-searching introspection, a "me and my girl have issues and can't communicate" song....

but they often end up not sounding as good as the first time he made the song. i did like King Remembered in Time a little more though. The sound was different (a little more rough but in a refreshing way).

I'm staying clear of this petty bytching above but I agree. KRIT is one of the few artists I anticipate music from. Personally, I think he'a super versatile. KRIT Wuz Here was the best musical release of the past 5 years for me. It was THAT fukking dope. His later releases haven't quite captured that greatness but every release has something I can fukk with. Hope dude continues to grind.
