I think that the AAU bball circuit is putting a lot of stress on the bodies of young players. They play year round with focusing on relaxing their bodies a big. Remember boys keep growing through their teens and playing year round like they do now can cause problems to bones, tendons, cartilage, and ligaments in a growing body. They just appear more injury prone. Back in the day when the season was over you relaxed a little more, went through a weight training program to get stronger worked on your skills.
Looks at some
#1 picks that have been drafted recently
Greg Oden
John Wall
Kyrie Irving
Anthony Davis
These dudes have been injury prone. I think it shows a breakdown in their bodies from excessive play year round in AAU. This doesn't mean that they will never be healthy, but this is something to think about.
