Yep, this is one of the most frustrating things about being a hip-hop fan. I know it's a competitive genre but we miss out on so much dope music and so many dope artists because of the need to only push a few constantly. Of course we need the big names to deliver and be at the forefront but c'mon now.Good interview but I wasn't feeling them pushing the Universal records lie that Kendrick, Drake and J Cole are the best of this generation. Nor did I like them comparing them to Jay, Big and Pac or the marginalization of the genre limiting it to three names. I can't believe that they are perpetuating this lie to this extent and it's crazy to see everyone buy into it. There are many talented artist who aren't in this system or who are that don't get the push.

Drake & Kendrick you can make an honest argument about them being among the best in this generation. I am not a fan of Drake by far but I can see why this generation latches on to him. Same with Kendrick which I am actually a fan of.
J.Cole is just a pretty good rapper with big money behind him, no more, no less. I havent rewond a J.Cole verse since his debut on Star Is Born.
Drake & Kendrick's backstories are both lies tho so thats that. TPAB getting almost as many nominations as Thriller tho....
I wouldn't be surprised if TDE cashed out for those nominations. TPAB is a great album dont get it twisted but the Grammys have over looked so many if not all undisputed hip-hop classics.
Explain what you mean by this!Jay, BIG and Pac?Drake being compared to Jay, BIG, Pac?

You have to see it from their perspective, they factor in influence, performance skills, longevity, commercial success, bars, flows and all that. And in that case those 3 are 3 greats. The last generation had Kanye, Wayne and Eminem. People can't really understand that Drake has been on top for damn near 7 years, that's as long as Jays first reign. Cole 5, that's like Pac's whole career.Good interview but I wasn't feeling them pushing the Universal records lie that Kendrick, Drake and J Cole are the best of this generation. Imo the only one that has it all is Kendrick, he has the classic albums, street love and commercial success. Drake is close but he's not really dropped those classic albums and Cole is far away with the albums. He's a waste of talent really, as far as albums goes.

Cole is on Sony, just like Reid. There is no argument to be made.

Universal is close to having a monopoly on music and these are the three they choose to promote as this generations greatest. It's just that simple. 50 had years on top too until they fall back off him. That doesn't mean he was one of the greatest during that time.
