2 very diff places but need some info

Would like to know how livable it is, nightlife, cheap/expensive etc etc.

For LA, i've heard the city is designed ugly? Apparently everything is sprawled out rather than close. And is every other person you come across an aspiring actor or that an exaggeration? Lol

For DC, are the main ghettos just blocks away from the White House? Crack still heavy there? Better than B-More, worse?

Appreciate it, need to know for something

From what I know, DC is alot more foot/transit accessible. It's very condensed compared to L.A., which occupies alot of space sparsely as you think. California is notorious "gotta have a car" state.

I don't like the design of L.A. personally. Sure the one floor homes are nice to have all to yourself but depends on the person. I need apartment buildings (Chicagoan here) so its hard to accept a place that feels like a big suburb. So in terms of looks, DC fits the urban idea that we're mostly accustomed with regards to density and proximity and L.A. is just a big ol place.

DC is changing right before our eyes. Even though there are a lot of hoods you'll be alright if you stay away from them and mind your business. They're not right next to the white house but they aren't far.

Nightlife is live. Clubs, lounges, bars, restaurants galore. Very close to the national harbor too

It's gettin more and more expensive by the day it seems though. So many white people moving in. 3 years ago I hardly saw any white people but they're everywhere now

Crack is everywhere so you'll be iight.

I think it's better than Bmore. I only go to Bmore for the aquarium and p*ssy :yeshrug: I've never lived there though so I couldn't say.

Breh dont listen to these folks about d.c smh.

D.c had hoods but there are also expensive ass neigborhoods like Georgetown and columbia heights.

Depending how much you want to spend . You could live very nice in maryland or va and commute to d.c like everyone else does.

silver spring is a nice area thats not too far from d.c.

Yes LA is spread out, designed ugly tho? I don't even understand that

Has to do with the suburban-esque design of the city. Post 50s cities that boomed tend to have more sprawl and single style homes compared to the early ones out East. Much of these late boomers were designed with the American Dream in mind - your own home, car out in front, lawn to BBQ in. Designing styles in the city to strictly separate residential and commercial, large open malls, etc etc.

To some it's just not urban feeling, myself included. Would you prefer condensed style foot-ability or spaced out living that you'll need cars for? Being a Chicagoan I very much prefer that condensed city feeling. I can't handle a place without a multitude of apartment complexes and those old garage-door styles shops alone the Ave with apartments on top.
