Its a shame that real traditional Black talent isn’t nurtured by at least a couple labels like it once was.

Having Black tastemakers absolutely important to preserve some authenticity of the art.

When black artists weren't seeking grammy/white acceptance, our music was the best. Since everyone now wants to crossover and get that pat on the head from white folks, black music/hiphop is at the all time worst. R&b doesn't even exist anymore. If it's not someone singing in autotune over trap music, it's a singer with their vocals being drowned out in so much reverb it sounds as if they are drowing in the ocean. Hip hop artists now make albums by deciding on how not to offend white people.

That era is dead. You halfway don’t even need labels. But you certainly don’t need boutique labels and mini label CEOs (russell Simmons, dame dash, Suge knight, Andre Harrell, etc) to access black talent, the internet has forever changed that. These guys gotta realize they got on at the perfect time in the music world - that 85-05 era was a perfect storm for kingmaking black labels/label heads
