Flywin Lannister
Superstar
We down bad. Long gone are the days of Kobe's lob to Shaq and the Kobe - Pau connection...
Despite some terrible games between the Warriors vs Wolves (suddenly the Wolves can't shoot 3s.. guess they gotta play the Lakers to play well?) and Pacers and Cavs..
It is OBVIOUS watching the OKC Free Throw Merchants vs Nuggets and especially Knicks vs Celtics (I can't believe I'm giving the Knicks props - I hated that mid-90s crew but credit where credit is due)... one thing is clear
The Lakers.. our Lakers.. do NOT belong at the highest level of basketball right now. Not "They just come up a BIT short". No.
THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS PLAYING IN A ROUND 2 OF THE NBA PLAYOFFS.
Before everyone goes "We don't have a big man" NOBODY on here or anywhere was saying that when we were #2.
In fact JJ Redikk's whole "small lineup" had people writing dissertations on how genius this is
MINDSET: our LEADER... released a barbie doll mid-playoffs, jokes with the star of the opponent and barely seems upset at losing. He was more passionate about defending Bronny Jr (and any dad SHOULD defend their son - even if it veers into hypocrisy) than winning games downt he stretch. MJs and Kobe's mindsets set the tone for the rest of the Championship Teams. Our leader's figuring out which legend to do a podcast with... during the end of the season. What kind of example of leadership is this?
COACHING: I barely have to write anything, but JJ Redikk -last I checked- is our coach. Last I checked, he has no prior coaching experience. LeBron again pops up: he pushed for his podcast and wine buddy to LEAD our team. How can anyone take this serious? Redikk should be a 2nd bench Assistant Coach for a few years and grow into the
role
MANAGEMENT: nobody knows what Pelinka does. The infamous "no moves, no trades" mindset killed us for years. Without the Nike-Kobe-Nico we don't get Luka so that's good - but I legit struggle to name 5 things Pelinka has done in the last 2 years to put. the team in a better position
LUKA: Luka is an incredible scorer. He's a flat tire AT BEST on D. Saying "I got to be better" means nothing if nothing gets better the next game or the next game. The valid concerns about his conditioning won't just go away. This is the NBA. Just dribbling and shooting at the last possible second are NOT only killing our ability to surprise an opponent, they are not putting up enough points consistently. Luka is a beast, but under questionable mindset leadership he doesn't seem to consistenyly thrive. Also: he complains NON-STOP. This will hurt us. Yes Reaves disappeared, but if Luka doesn't have these super inconsistent performances it matters less
CENTER: again, nobody knows what Pelinka does. BUT in the hypothetical scenario we get a C... will JJ Redikk play him, or just pull him during the key games of the seson?
GIANNIS: the ONLY thing Pelinka should be doing today until he succeeds is trying to get GIANNIS to the Lakers. YES Reaves and Hachimura should be trade assets if needed.
It's legit embarrasing to know how we got eliminated and that all that time invested rooting for our team and talk of "we may do it" led to ONE singular win in the 2024-25 Playoffs.
Ideally we get rid of JJ (but the privilege is too high as LeBron's literal friend). Something seriously has to change before we get dunked and outhustled into the obscurity...
