Not even an ex-player of his, but for whatever reason made him the target of his grievances.Police arrested Cedric Irving Jr., 27, in Beam's shooting. Irving is a former Skyline High School student and football player. Irving did not attend Skyline while Beam was coach at the high school.
The suspect’s brother said Irving at some point practiced with the Laney football team but was never on the team.

I guess we’ll just have to wait until the full story comes out.“This was a very targeted incident,” Assistant Chief James Beere said, adding that the suspect and Beam knew each other and although they weren’t close, the coach was “open to helping everybody in our community.”

I’m expecting there to be something serious like predatory or assault related to justify this. Anything less would be unacceptable.sh!t makes no sense, there has to be something more to this story.
Man they saying it wasn’t a robbery and that they were “acquainted”. Did he used to coach dude or something![]()
I was posting in the wrong thread
I just finished this season. I really enjoyed it. They should've been showcasing a coach like John Beam since the beginning. This dude comes across as what a JUCO coach should be. I'm really pulling for Dior to make it in D1 or the NFL. Nu got a real one for a wife too.
The stadium for most of Laney's games seemed empty. I guess the charm of JUCO football in the midwest/south is that these small communities rally around the football program. That seemed to be the only thing missing this season.
