a handful of companies own all of commercial media through different umbrellas and titles.... shouldn't have been anymore difficult than any other clearance

cute how they incorporated that though... sounds like some original Cardo shyt

There's honestly a strong chance it's not even cleared.

It's just on SoundCloud and YouTube, and if any of the rights holders send out a cease and desist, then Cookin Soul would probably just taken down.

A surprisingly huge amount of sample based rap out there right now is all uncleared.

It's not even worth it for most holders to try and sue over it. A YouTube video with 150,000 views and a SoundCloud page with 1,600 plays? What money is Cookin Soul even making from this to take from him in a lawsuit? Suing him is probably more expensive than whatever money is being made.

Also, sometimes people will clear stuff for free if you just ask them. Not saying that happened here, because I don't know. And it might have been cleared officially too. I also don't know.

Just thinking out loud

I hate the mix up releases that are obviously fake
They're not fake just blends and what was done on mixtapes even back then. Cookin Soul been doing this for years. Knwledge has a running series VGM and HX where he takes popular songs and put different beats on them. Hell he did it with Meek to the point they were so good they were outshining his albums.

Vol. 2

Vol.3

it's not like those other channels that pretend they're new songs.
