I'm not watching the whole episode, in part because I don't like Bill Maher, but isn't Trump the President of the United States?
I'd imagine there would be an immense amount of news about him because he's bumbling his way through national and international affairs.
Ignoring the asinine and dangerous things he does is akin to normalising his blisteringly stupid behaviour, than being "focused" on something else.

Basically a point I've been making here since 2016. The Dems would rather lose elections than change the status quo. The Bernie/Progressive strategy would secure wins and the party's future at best and at worst it is a different strategy than what has ensured the loss of the presidency, house, senate, most governorships and state houses. But they are unwilling to even try it and can't explain why. In fact they are doing everything to lock progressive voices out of the party.

Both parties look out for the two party system over EVERYTHING else. They are in this for the donations primarily. The Republicans do the dirty work for the corporations and the Dems stand by and say "Oh my this is terrible!" But are unwilling to lift one finger to stop them. And that's because they don't want to upset corporations either.

this is fukking garbage because dems and repubs have an absolute monopoly, and the only path to the white house is through one of those parties. meanwhile our secret service dollars pay to protect them during elections
I often ask this question. Bernie registers as an independent. Why not run on your own independent ticket and create your own independent apparatus?
The GOP and Dems may be a monopoly, but they put in the work to build their brands.
A true revolution is putting in the work and trusting the grassroots to build something special, not hijacking the party you claim is broken and trying to take it over from within.

independents cant compete with the money of the dems and repubs, and they cant defeat the sheeplike mentality in america where people believe we have to vote for the dem or repub. also, they cockblock independents trying to get into debates, which is huge
Short term pain is preferable to long term decimation.
I'm hurting worse in the Trump admin than I was in the Obama admin, if Trump is successful, the current status quo will be more acceptable and I'd not prefer that
Nah, the vision should be to build a brand that's ready to challenge in 10 years. No one has the discipline to pursue that vision. They all want success on the presidential cycle.
