Late 60's early-mid 70's was the GOAT era for Black people in America.

black power in the public consciousness... nikkas was still livng in abject poverty in amerikkka, though

the best black music definitely came out of that era.... soul, reggae, r&b, funk, gospel.

The majority of black people weren't on some soul brother shyt back then though. If the average coli militant could take a time machine to the 60's and 70's they'd be calling everyone a c00n.

Pop culture can really distort the through which we view history.

Agreed. Historical hindsight revisionism is WOAT. Also people really thought that from 1965 to 1975, everyone was a tolerant peace loving hippie with beards and long hair/afro, and was socially conscious. Nah most people back then were the same as today, selfish, socially and politically apathic, and consumers. Me, Family and friends first, others can go to hell. They did not have long hair and beards too in 1965-1970. The fashion and hairstyles were extremely conservative, in the mid-late 1960s. Not too different than 1955-1964. Perception is not reality.

Most black people were on the sidelines while Huey Newton, MLK, etc was in the front lines.A lot of c00ns back then, even worse than now.

where do y'all get this crap. every black person couldn't have been a king.

I don't recall saying every black person was a king.:jbhmm:

But there was a time where there were black kings who were recognized all over the world for centuries. The whitemans history even acknowledges this as fact.

I'm not from that era but all the older folks I speak to say on average Black self love was higher then. Also all the old pictures that family have show most people with natural hair rocking afros. I go outside and off the internet in the present and all I see is Black self hate.
