(1) The only thing I can give you is the clean 808 bass...I am still trying to learn how to achieve that bass sound without distorting the rest of the instruments...

(2) Obviously the best is incomplete...It needs to be filled with atmosphere and other small melodic phrases...The string part sounds a little cheesy...But I like the brass section and the choir...

(3) Play around some more...

What DAW do you use?

If you use logic there's a great tutorial I found on how to make a nice 808 sounding bass with logic's es2



If you just lower the distortion/add a little attack (not too much) and mix it nicely it shouldn't conflict with other instruments

I am a FL Studio fiend...When I am doing original beats, I pretty much use stock FL Studio sounds...

I do have Nexus, Gladiator, Hypersonic, Massive and etc, but I find that the creative juices don't flow as well when I use anything other than stock FL Studio sounds...
